Meet the owner

Since 1969, Norburn Model Aircraft Supply has been proudly serving passionate hobbyists from its Burnaby location. Model aircraft has been a lifelong hobby for Dean, owner and operator of the specialty retail shop, and now it’s a career. “I started building models when I was about 15 years old and never stopped,” says Dean.

Before partnering with the founder of Norburn Model Aircraft Supply in the late 1980s, Dean worked with a company that used architectural engineering models and did a tremendous amount of work for the film industry. That work included using radio-controlled aircraft for crash scenes and explosions in features films, television and commercials, including the original Airwolf television series.

Dean has been running the shop by himself since 2000. Despite the long hours involved, the customers make operating Norburn Model Aircraft Supply a daily pleasure. “The people who come in are great and after all these years, I still really enjoy helping everyone out.”
