6 Calgary food trucks to try at Picnic in the Park 2017

With Calgary’s warm weather (hopefully) here to stay, the city’s food truck scene is entering its busiest time of year. Since there are so many delicious mobile eateries to choose from, YYC Food Trucks has organized Picnic in the Park, a two-day food frenzy that takes place May 27 and 28 in Murdock Park in Bridgeland. Here are six food trucks you need to check out while you’re there. [Photo credit: YYC Food Trucks]

Righteous Gelato

1
110-221 19 St Se, Calgary, AB T2E 7M2

This small-batch gelato company is a Calgary institution, serving up scoops of handcrafted gelato and dairy-free, vegan sorbetto. Customer-favoured flavours include Strawberry Rhubarb, Dark Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt, and Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean. Fiasco’s food truck also has its own espresso bar to help you satiate your caffeine mix.

Sal's Flatbread

311 17 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2S 0A5

The mobile offerings of Sal's Flatbread will also keep guests of the Picnic in the Park full with both savoury and sweet flatbread options. But if you want to chow down, take note – Sal's will only be on site in Murdock Park on May 28.

The Sugar Cube

Calgary, AB T3K 1P5

If you’ve got a hankering for sweets, Sugar Cube is Calgary’s very own mobile candy store. The bright purple food truck serves up a variety of old-school and hard-to-find sweets, with a selection that far rivals what you’d find in the grocery stores or convenience store candy bins.

One of the most festive Calgary events of the summer, Marda Gras is a New Orleans-themed street festival that runs August 13, 2017, in the heart of the Marda Loop community. Since Marda Loop is one of the best dining communities in the city, make sure to stop in to one of these eateries while you’re in the area.
Let Mom take a break this Mother's Day and treat her to a gourmet brunch experience. Whether your mom is into gourmet gastronomy, runway fashion or local history, you’re sure to find a brunch destination that’ll really hit the spot (and possibly even allow you to reclaim your title as Mom’s favourite child).
