3 easy party punch recipes you need to try

Planning a get-together? Every party needs a little punch! Whether you are serving alcohol or not, you don't want to spend all your time making drinks at your own party. Here are a three classic recipes that are easy to make and serve.

1. Non-alcoholic fruit fizz

Makes 10 servings

  • 25 g (1 oz) each frozen raspberries and strawberries
  • 1.3 L (5 1/4 c) water
  • 350 g (12 oz) sugar
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 15 ml (2 tsp) ground cardamom
  • 6 strips orange zest
  • 1 split vanilla pod
  • 500 ml (2 c) orange juice
  • 500 ml (2 c) chilled sparkling water
  1. In a large pot, combine frozen raspberries and strawberries, water, sugar, whole cloves,  ground cardamom, orange zest strips and the split vanilla pod.
  2. Bring to a boil over a medium-high heat; reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain through a fine sieve and discard the solids. Cool to room temperature, and then stir in orange juice and chill.
  4. Just before serving, stir in chilled sparkling water.
  5. Serve over ice and garnish as desired.

2. Anniversary fruit punch

Makes 8 servings

  • 398 g (14 oz) can of peach halves, reserve juice
  • 750 ml (3 c) sweet white wine
  • 500 ml (2 c) orange juice
  • 250 ml (1 c) pinapple juice
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) lime juice
  • Crushed ice
  • Mint sprigs
  1. Drain the liquid from the can of peach halves, reserving a quarter of the juice.
  2. Mix the peach juice with the bottle of white wine, orange juice, pineapple juice and lime juice.
  3. Dice half of the canned peaches.
  4. Fill one-third of a large jug with crushed ice. Pour the wine mixture into the jug and top with the diced peaches.
  5. Garnish with sprigs of mint.

3. Classic sangria

Makes 12 servings

  • 1.7 L (3 pints) fruity red wine
  • 250 to 500 ml (1 to 2 c) brandy, Cointreau, cassis, or other fruit-flavoured liqueur
  • 90 to 120 ml (6 to 8 tbsp) lemon juice
  • 250 ml (1 c) of sugar syrup
  • Orange and lemon slices
  • cherries
  • Pineapple rings or chunks
  • Other fruit as desired
  1. In a large pitcher, mix red wine with fruit-flavoured liqueur and lemon juice.
  2. Stir, and add sugar syrup.
  3. Add orange and lemon slices, pitted cherries, pineapple or other fruit. Chill well.
  • For white sangria, use dry white wine such as Chablis, Grand Marnier or other orange-flavoured liqueur, and lemon or lime-flavoured tonic.
