5 natural DIY dandruff treatments

Nobody likes having dandruff. If you can't seem to get rid of this problem, it might be time to try a natural, home remedy.

5 natural DIY dandruff treatments
  1. Boil four tablespoons of dried thyme, which has mild antiseptic properties, in two cups water for 10 minutes. Strain, then cool and pour over clean, damp hair. Do not rinse out.
  2. Massage the scalp with apple juice – its natural fruit acids will help get rid of dandruff. After massaging, shampoo your hair then rinse with apple cider vinegar, which acts as both an exfoliant and an astringent.
  3. Add 10 drops tea-tree oil to one cup strained black tea. Work the mixture into the scalp. If possible, leave it in your hair overnight before washing it out.
  4. Restore sheen to your hair and relieve an itchy or over-dry scalp with a vitamin E treatment. Simply prick one to two vitamin E capsules. Squeeze the oil onto your fingertips and rub the contents directly onto the roots, then massage it gently into the scalp.
  5. Make your own rinse to help remove the build-up of hair products that leave your hair dry and dull. Combine four cups water, one cup lemon juice and one cup Epsom salt into a jug. Pour through dry hair. Leave for 15 minutes, then shampoo out.

If your efforts to control your dandruff haven't been working, try an at-home natural treatment to get rid of white flakes for good.
