5 things to consider before buying your wedding shoes

December 15, 2014

Before you buy that special pair of heels for your wedding day, there are some important thing to keep in mind to be comfortable and feel gorgeous all day.

5 things to consider before buying your wedding shoes

1. Don't ignore comfort

  • Don’t fall into the trap of buying gorgeous shoes that you can’t even stand to stand in.
  • Remember, you’re going to have to stand and pose for a lot of wedding photographs, dance, not to mention walking down the aisle.
  • The last thing you want is to wobble your way down the aisle or fall on your face because your heels are too high.

2. Don't hold back

  • You should feel fantastic in your shoes.
  • Even if your dress is floor length, your guests will occasionally get glimpses of your feet. Choose an exquisite pair that you’ll love for years.

3. Break them in

Don’t make the mistake of wearing your wedding shoes for the first time at the event.

  • We all know that the first time you wear a pair of heels is the most painful—it’s important to get them worn in (but not out) first.
  • In order to protect them from getting scuffed or dirty before the big day, just wear them around the house on carpet for a few weeks prior to your wedding day, so they’ll have moulded to your feet and will become much more comfortable.

4. Adjust your dress

  • Your dressmaker will need to know your heel height so they can make the final adjustments to your dress’s length before the day of the event.
  • Take measurements of your wedding shoes so that they can make the adjustments in time.

5. Find shoes to match your dress

Matching your shoes to your dress is a big factor in having a polished, stylish look.

  • If your gown is pure white, it’s important that your wedding shoes be too.
  • If your dress is off-white, cream, or ivory, your wedding shoes should be the same.

It may seem like an insignificant difference but you will notice it in your wedding photos.

There are lots of things to think about ahead of your wedding day, but by getting shoes you love early and wearing them in, you'll be comfortable all day long.
