6 homemade remedies to leave your feet soft and smooth

Our feet take a lot of abuse throughout the day while we're walking, running and doing other activities. Give your feet some loving and use these homemade creams and baths that will make you feel like you're at the spa, but without the unknown ingredients.

6 homemade remedies to leave your feet soft and smooth

1. Love-your-feet cream

  • 30 g (1 oz) grated or shaved beeswax
  • 175 ml (3/4 c) almond oil1.Place the beeswax and almond oil in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir together until they are blended and the wax has melted. Remove from heat and pour into two 125 millilitre (four ounce) sterilized containers with tight tops.2.Allow mixture to cool before applying to feet. Spread on feet at night before bedtime. Wear a pair of clean cotton socks over the cream. In the morning, your feet will be much softer.

2. Soothing footbath

  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) sea salt
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop rosemary essential oil
  • 1 drop bay essential oil
  • 1 drop geranium essential oil
  • Rose petals(optional)1.Fill the soaking pan or tub with enough warm water to cover your feet.2.Stir in the sea salt until it dissolves. Use your toes to stir, if you wish. Add the essential oils, mixing them well. Float rose petals on the surface.

    3.Soak your feet in the basin for 10 minutes, or until the water has cooled off. Pat your feet dry with a towel.

3. Eucalyptus foot lotion

  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) almond oil
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) avocado oil
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) wheat germ oil
  • 10 drops eucalyptus essential oil1.Put all the ingredients in a small, sterilized glass bottle with a tight-fitting stopper. Shake the liquid vigorously until it is completely combined.2.Store the bottle in a cool, dark place. Shake well before using.

4. Strawberry foot scrub

  • 10 ml (2 tsp) coarse salt
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
  • 8 fresh strawberries1.Pour salt into a mixing bowl. Add the oil and stir to combine. Remove caps from strawberries and slice or chop them. Add strawberries to the salt and oil mixture and mash with a potato masher or fork. The resulting mixture should be chunky but well blended.

    2.Rub this mixture onto your feet, massaging the balls of the feet and the heels. If desired, use a body puff or foot brush. Rinse off and coat feet with a gentle lotion.Makes enough for one treatment.

5. Refreshing foot spray

  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) witch hazel
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) rose flower water, orange blossom water or distilled water
  • 0.5 ml (1/8 tsp) glycerin
  • 10 to 15 drops of essential oil of your choicePour all ingredients into a clean spray bottle and shake. Will keep for two months in plastic container.

6. Leg massage cream

Treat yourself to a massage from your knees to your toes with this easy-to-make cream especially for the legs.

  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) anhydrous (water-free) lanolin
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) olive oil
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) apricot oil1.Put all the ingredients together in the nonreactive top of a double boiler over simmering water. Heat and stir with a wooden spoon until the lanolin has liquefied.

    2.Pour the mixture into a sterilized 125 millilitre (four ounce) jar with a tight-fitting lid and allow to cool. Keep in a cool, dark place.
