You've made all the big decisions, but there are still a few details to attend to. Follow this list two to three months before your wedding, and you'll be able to just relax and enjoy the day.

What to do two to three months before your wedding

Some things to do months before your wedding

  • Finalize the wedding invitation list for both the bride's guests and the groom's guests.
  • Complete the process of addressing wedding invitations; enlist the services of a calligrapher or call in wedding party members and other friends to help if necessary.
  • Mail wedding invitations two months before the wedding date. It's important to get your invitations to your recipients as soon as possible so that they can make plans to attend. This is especially important for out-of-town guests who have to make travel and accommodation arrangements.
  • Confirm your reception menu with your caterer or venue catering manager. Insist on an appointment to review the venue and taste the food that the catering company will provide.
  • Shop for and select wedding favours if applicable. Enlist the help of your maid or matron of honour and bridesmaids if special touches need to be added to the favours.
  • Book an appointment with your selected hair stylist and makeup artist for the day of the wedding. Ask them to allow as much time between the appointment and your wedding as possible so that your visit will be stress free.
  • Schedule a bridesmaids' luncheon or brunch to be held prior to the wedding. You should invite your and your groom's grandmothers and mothers to this event, too. The ladies will appreciate this gesture and your showing that you considered them during this special time in your life.
  • Continue to document and acknowledge the arrival of wedding gifts.
  • Invite special friends/relatives to assist at the ceremony or reception such as attending the guest book, cake service, gift table attendant, or reading special passages.
  • Make legal and financial arrangements. Find out what it takes to have the bride's name changed on things like bank accounts, life insurance policies, and her driver's license.
  • Plan a small party for out-of-town guests if appropriate.
  • Complete your wedding vows if you plan to write your own, or determine which vows you would like to use in your ceremony.

Don't worry if you're starting to feel a little stressed out around this time — that's normal. But if you follow these steps two to three months before your wedding day, you'll arrive at the big day with everything perfectly planned.
