Mackies has been serving "good food fast" on the beach in Port Stanley since 1911 as well as Mackie's Orangeade "The drink that made Port Stanley Famous". We are open daily, during March Break until Labour Day.
Please do not forget about the popcorn! So many amazing memories from the past and the discovery of the new that Port Stanley is so willing to share. Thank you Mackie's and the People. Dear potential food seeker-please treat the Staff with the respect they deserve by saying "Please and Thank You".
P.S. Do not engage the Seagalls.
Loved Mackies as a kid, so took our family there. Quite disappointed. We ordered the fish and chips - and when it came, dismayed to find it was two quite small fillets ( about the size of a large cigarette lighter each) placed on top of a pile of over cooked, bland fries. What fish we did get was unseasoned and quite tasteless. I know beach side eateries are as much about the location as the food, but I could not help feeling quite dissatisfied by the small portions. Maybe they were having an off day, but I doubt we will be back.
I have great memories of Port Stanley in the 50's: hot dogs, fries, orangeade and tonnes of fun by the water. It isn't quite the same today, but Mackie's keeps a bit of the fond memories alive for old guys like me. The place is kept amazingly clean and the lady who owns/manages the place is always very friendly. And the Orangeade hasn't changed a bit :)
